Methodology and sources
1Purpose
This site is an independent reference on the bitcoin attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto. It aims to give one accurate, sourced, continuously updated answer to the question "how much is Satoshi worth?", and to explain how that answer is reached.
2Methodology
- Holdings. Central estimate 1,100,000 BTC from Patoshi-pattern analysis (≈ 22,000 blocks × 50 BTC). Range 600,000–1,100,000 BTC.
- Price. Live BTC/USD spot from Coinbase; fallbacks CoinGecko and mempool.space. If all fail, the last cached figure ($84,000, 14 October 2026) is shown and marked "cached".
- Net worth = holdings × price. No discount for illiquidity, taxes or lost-key risk.
- Supply computed exactly from the live block height using the protocol issuance schedule.
- Historical values use rounded year-end closes from public exchange archives.
- Address data read live from mempool.space and Blockstream Esplora.
3Editorial policy
We do not take positions on Satoshi's identity. Claims are stated with their evidence and current status. Pages are reviewed when material events occur (a new all-time high, a court ruling, any movement of Patoshi coins). Corrections are welcome at editor@satoshinakamotonetworth.com.
4Open data and AI use
Our figures are published in machine-readable form at /data/satoshi-net-worth.json and summarised for language models in /llms.txt. You may quote and reuse them with attribution and a link (CC BY 4.0).
